GacoRoofFoam & GacoFlex S20 Silicone Roof Restoration – Joined Alloys (AZ)

Situation:

Joined Alloys is a global aerospace and defense manufacturer of components and sub-assemblies. The multi-tiered roof of their facility in Phoenix, AZ was in dire need of repair and they contacted Terry Crawford of TDC Construction to discuss their options. The top tier consisted of a built-up roof that had been covered with TPO; Terry determined it was going to be necessary to remove the TPO prior to proceeding with repairs, and he knew this would result in additional damage to the substrate below. The lower tier was also built up covered with TPO. Terry brought the
project to Gaco Western as Terry knew that Gaco offered the perfect solution to this difficult roof repair project.

Solution:

A complete foam and coating roofing system is far superior to any other type of system on the market: GacoRoofFoam coated with GacoFlex Silicone. This system provides seamless insulation and waterproofing and because the system is fully adhered to the substrate it eliminated common sources of leaks and pooling water beneath the roofing material. The GacoFlex S2000 Solvent-Free 100% Silicone Roof Coating features FM approval, has a highly reflective, glossy finish that can reduce cooling costs, and will endure permanent ponding water without softening.

Unique Characteristics:

Repairs were needed on a built up roof that had extensive penetrations due to the single ply fasteners and previous penetrations that needed to be repaired.

Installation:

Once the TPO was removed on the upper tier, the roof was thoroughly cleaned and then primed with GacoFlex E5320 2-Part Epoxy Primer/ Filler, all fastener holes were filled with GacoFlex SF2000 SeamSeal using a bulk caulk gun and then 2 coats of GacoFlex S2000 Solvent-Free 100% Silicone Roof Coating were applied. On the lower tier, upon removal of the TPO, it was discovered that many unforeseen penetrations existed that made it impractical to just apply a similar application as the upper tier. GacoRoofFoam 273 was applied to the entire lower tier in addition to 2 coats of GacoFlex S2000 Solvent-Free 100% Silicone Roof Coating.
