Gaco183M Awarded GREENGUARD and GREENGUARD Gold Certifications

May 13, 2013 10:39 am

May 13, 2013 – Gaco Western, a leader in innovative spray foam insulation products, is pleased to announce that the company’s Gaco 183M Closed Cell Spray Foam Insulation has been awarded UL Environment’s GREENGUARD and GREENGUARD Gold Certifications, signifying that samples of Gaco 183M have been tested and certified to be in compliance with stringent chemical emissions standards set by UL Environment, which are among the world’s most rigorous, third-party chemical emissions standards.

Interior products can have a significant impact on indoor air quality, and can emit hundreds of chemicals into the air that building occupants breathe. GREENGUARD Certification was created specifically for interior products. Use of GREENGUARD Certified products contributes to the creation of healthier interiors. GREENGUARD Gold Certification (formerly known as GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certification) includes exceptionally low emissions limits to account for sensitive individuals including children and the elderly. This certification makes Gaco 183M eligible for use on Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) projects and for points under the LEED® green building certification program.

“Gaco Western is committed to developing innovative and environmentally-responsible products that give our contractors a competitive advantage. These GREENGUARD Certifications open up new markets by differentiating Gaco 183M as a more responsible choice,” stated Tom Sojak, Vice President, GacoWallFoam.

Gaco 183M Closed Cell Spray Foam Insulation is a Class 1 fire rated foam that meets the requirements of ICC-ES AC377 Acceptance Criteria for Foam Plastic Insulation. It meets the requirements of AC377 Appendix X for use in attic and crawl spaces without an additional ignition barrier, and when covered with 20 wet mils of IFTI’s Paint to Protect DC315 meets NFPA 286 alternative thermal barrier requirements.

GREENGUARD Certification is issued by UL Environment, a business unit of UL (Underwriters Laboratories). GREENGUARD Certification helps manufacturers create – and helps buyers identify – interior products and materials that have low chemical emissions. GREENGUARD Certification became part of the UL Environment portfolio in 2011 when UL Environment acquired GREENGUARD Environmental Institute, further advancing its mission of promoting global sustainability, environmental health, and safety.
