GacoFlex S20 Silicone Over Rubber Roof Restoration – Inficon EDC, Inc. (KS)

Case History GacoFlex S20 Rubber Roof Restoration Inficon EDC Photo

Situation:

Inficon EDC, Inc. is a premier manufacturer of quartz-based products used in computers, consumer electronics, wireless communications and other technologies. The company prides itself in providing quick-turn services of high quality products to a worldwide customer base and relies on its 30,000 square foot manufacturing facility to perform high volume manufacturing operations. When the company began to experience leaks in their worn out rubber roof, they needed to find a waterproofing system that would provide a permanent solution without disrupting the tight
manufacturing schedule.

Solution:

The GacoFlex S20 Silicone Roof Coating System was selected for this project because it can be applied to virtually any existing roof to create a durable, glossy, seamless membrane that seals and protects against permanent ponding water, ultraviolet light and severe weather. Plus, by re-coating the roof the owner could alleviate the need for a time-consuming and costly roof tear-off while avoiding down time in manufacturing operations.

Unique Characteristics:

Because of the ongoing nature of manufacturing, Inficon needed a solution that would not interrupt daily operations.

Installation Details:

The roof was washed with GacoWash Concentrated Cleaner and allowed to dry. Then the GacoFlex E5320 2-Part Epoxy Primer/Filler was applied. After that all seams and penetrations were sealed using GacoFlex SF2000 SeamSeal Solvent-Free Silicone Sealant. After allowing sufficient time for the SeamSeal to cure, the GacoFlex S20 Series Solvent-Free 100% Silicone Coating was installed at a rate of 2.5 gallons per 100 square feet to create a waterproof membrane over the existing roof.

Washington Roofing & Insulation provided Inficon EDC a leak-free warranty period that met their needs. According to Moriah Carpenter, Project Manager at Washington Roofing & Insulation, “The job was finished in April 2016 and not one leak has been reported since the project was completed. With the heavy Kansas City spring rains we had this spring/early summer this is a true  testimony to the quality of a Gaco Silicone Roof System.”

Rick Salyer, Facilities Manager at Inficon adds, “We are thrilled with our new roof Washington Roofing installed for us. Moriah has a level of expertise unmatched by anyone else we met in the industry. She explained the advantages of their recommended products and application procedures which ensured us we were getting a quality result. The team’s experience and communication was so valuable to our decision making process and we had many choices to consider. We recommend Washington Roofing Company to anyone looking for a quality roof and a great team to work with. We are so happy to not have buckets sitting all over the facility!”
