A Sustainable, Cost-Effective Alternative for Encapsulating Built-Up Gravel Roofs

GacoBase U95 is a two-component urethane maintenance base coat that streamlines roof restoration across many substrates. As a result, you can restore more roofs with less labor and lower material costs—all without sacrificing performance.

In addition, GacoBase forms a tough, durable film that protects foam substrates and blocks oil migration on asphalt roofs. Because of this, you no longer need bleed-blocking primers. Furthermore, the coating extends the life of aged asphaltic, single-ply, BUR, and previously coated roof systems.

For easy application, you can brush or roll GacoBase directly over existing single-ply systems. Plus, it carries UL and FM approvals for roof maintenance coatings. Once applied, it’s ready for a top coat in as little as 4 hours, which saves valuable time on the job.

Beyond performance, GacoBase also advances sustainability. Made with renewable castor oil, it provides a USDA bio-preferred alternative to petroleum-based roofing materials. Built-Up Gravel Roof Encapsulation

For built-up gravel roofs, first remove loose aggregate with vacuum equipment. Next, flood coat GacoBase to encapsulate about 75% of the remaining embedded gravel. As a result, the surface becomes properly prepared for a GacoFlex top coat. Finally, apply urethane, silicone, or acrylic to meet the specific needs of the building, location, and durability requirements.
