HIGH-PERFORMANCE NON-SKID COATINGS

Engineering Safety and Durability for Pedestrian and Vehicular Traffic

Virtual Event
Virtual / Zoom Event

Course Overview:

This course reviews high-performance coating strategies engineered for pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Explore heavy-traffic chemistries, resin technologies, and proper surface preparation and moisture testing methods. By integrating dynamic coefficient of friction (DCOF) and ADA life-safety standards, you will gain the practical skills needed to specify resilient systems that withstand vehicular abrasion and enhance safety.

AIA approved course. Qualifies for 1 LU|HSW

Learning Objectives:

  • Analyze Resin Chemistries: Evaluate the performance differences between single-component acrylics and two-component, Kevlar®-reinforced epoxies for various traffic loads.
  • Define Life-Safety Standards: Apply Dynamic Coefficient of Friction (DCOF) and ADA requirements to the selection of anti-slip textures to minimize pedestrian liability in wet and dry conditions.
  • Specify for Vehicular Loads: Identify the mechanical properties required—such as abrasion and impact resistance—to withstand heavy-rolling loads and shear forces in industrial and parking environments.
  • Determine Surface Preparation Protocols: Assess Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) standards and moisture-vapor transmission testing to ensure permanent adhesion of high-solids coating systems.

Facilitator Qualifications:

All Gaco Area Managers/CES Facilitators, have a devoted interest in the educational development of the professional design community. Each representative has a vast knowledge of the professional design process and numerous years dedicated to the construction industry.

Method of Delivery:

The CES facilitator will utilize a PowerPoint, or overhead presentation, to provide an in depth yet interactive discussion based on the learning objectives for this program.

Audio/Visual required:

Electrical power and a screen for the projector or overhead projector.

Cost to participants:
